Flat Bread “Healthy” S’Mores

We are at our final week of recipes created using Flat Bread from Original Flat Bread Company. This week I have a dish for you that is an absolute winner. I had so much fun making these “Healthy” S’mores that I can’t wait to make them again.

These “Healthy” S’mores are twist on the American classic that uses Graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate and toasted prepared over an open flame or oven.

I have used cream cheese, Homemade Chocolate Spread from Chickpeas and peanut butter to replace the chocolate, and fruits (banana, apple, blueberries and strawberries) to replace the marshmallows and of course Flat Bread in place of the Graham crackers.

They are as easy as Toast, Spread, Fill and Top.

I am using the White Flat Bread for this recipe and TOASTING it and FILLING it for a Snack.

Flat Bread Healthy S'Mores
INGREDIENTS

4 White Flat Breads from Original Flat Bread Company
Light Cream Cheese
Peanut Butter
Homemade Chocolate Spread from Chickpeas (or Nuttela)
Sliced apples, bananas, strawberries and whole blueberries.

LETS PUT IT ALTOGETHER

1. Place the flat breads in the toaster and toast for about 1 minute. Allow to cool.
2. On one flat bread spread a Tablespoon of the cream cheese on one half. Top the cream cheese with sliced strawberries and then cut the flat bread in half placing the side with no ingredients on top of the side that does. Press down.
3. Repeat this on the remaining 3 flat breads combining – Chocolate Spread and Blueberries, Peanut Butter and Banana, Cream Cheese and Apples.

You can try all different variations of fruits and spreads. The Flat Breads are a perfect healthier replacement for the Graham Crackers as they aren’t full of the fat and sugar that biscuits are. The firmness of the Flat Bread once toasted makes it a perfect vessel for the fillings.

Definitely Strawberry & Cream Cheese. It reminds me of strawberry & cream cheese tart that my mum used to make for us when we were young. Nutty crust, fresh fruit and creamy filling make a perfect combination. Yumm.. I am salivating right now!

Blueberry and chocolate spread. That combination appeals to me the most and with blueberries and chocolate being my boys favourites it’s a winning combination with them as well.
